Dedicated to the memory of Ellen Brewster (Nee Senarath Pathirana)

This site is a tribute to Ellen Brewster, who was born in Tangalle on December 31, 1945. She is much loved and will always be remembered.

Angelina, Sheromie & Samantha tribute..

Our mother was loved by so many. She always knew how to brighten someone's day and make them feel loved along with warm hugs and kisses. She treated everyone with kindness and respect and the kindest of hearts.

We have fond memories travelling to Sri Lanka with mum, she always spoke highly of her family.  She shared fond memories, from when she was young.  How she came to the UK by cruise ship on the Canberra, to become a nurse, and where she stopped along the way at different ports, including Italy. She told us a story where her friends hid her away from an wealthy Arab, besotted by her beauty who wanted to marry her.

Last year we gave mum a kitten and named him Monty - mum would call him Whiskey as he reminded mum of our first cat. Monty would always snuggle up with mum and slept on her lap on the sofa and he always brought a smile to mums face. Mum would also call Monty "Tiger cat".

Mum has always been there for us, giving us guidance and advice when needed.

We used to watch mum getting ready for work, with her beauty routine, blow drying and curling her hair, applying light makeup and spraying her favourite perfume Chanel, which always lingered in the room.

When we were young we always looked forward to our Birthdays and Christmas, as mum and dad made it special for us. They always made us dance to Bob Marley .. Stir it Up … Three little birds … One love.

Mum cooking was always on point, curries, butter cake and so much more on all occasions, and a perfect hostess.

Mum was athletic in her younger years, and she held the island record for Javelin for 15 years in Sri Lanka. Mum taught us how swim …

Mum is a strong role model for us …. always hardworking, a passionate figure of strength, and soldiered on even when times were tough.

We feel honoured and privilege to be your daughters.  You always loved us unconditionally, and the best mother anyone could wish for.

Poem:

Our mother you can only have one mother patient kind and true; no other friend in all the world will be the same to you. For all her loving and kindness she asks nothing in return.

Nourished with fondest care and taught us lessons bright and true.

As we look upon her photos sweet memories we will always recall of a face full of sunshine, and a smile for one and all.

We had a wonderful mother and that’s the way it will always be.

31st December 2024
Mum in the quiet of the morning, we hear your gentle voice, Whispers of love surround us, reminding us to rejoice. Your warmth stays forever, in our heart you safely keep. Every laugh and every tear, every story that we shared, Echoes softly in the silence, a bond that’s truly rare. We see you in the flowers, in the sky’s brilliant hue, In every precious memory, Mum, we carry you. Through the years and through the seasons, your spirit shines so bright, Like stars that dance in twilight, you guide us through the night. Though we cannot hold your hand, or feel your embrace near, In every thought of love, we still feel you here. As Christmas brings its blessings and the New Year’s bells ring clear, We will light a candle in your name, to celebrate you, dear. Your love is our foundation, and through it, we remain. We carry you within our heart, forever in our thoughts and dreams, you will never fade away, In every moment, we cherish you, each and every day. ❤️🎄❤️🎄❤️🎄
Love you mum ❤️❤️❤️
